How to set up KPIs, owners and reporting averages in WinTars

What each person can do — CEO, Director, Manager, Supervisor and Owner — to set up KPIs, enter current values and read the averages that roll up through the organization.

Find your position below. Some steps repeat between positions so each person can see everything they need in one place.

CEO

What a CEO can do

CEOs (like Super Admins) have full rights on their company map.

1. Get the people and reporting lines set up

Adding people, choosing their positions and setting Reports to is done by the WinTars map administrator. As CEO:

  1. Send the administrator each person’s email and position (Director, Boss Manager, Boss Supervisor, or Owner).
  2. Tell them who reports to whom: Owner → supervisor; Supervisor → manager; Manager → director.
  3. Share the Company sign-up link you receive; everyone must sign up with their assigned email.

2. Add several KPIs to one objective

  1. Click the objective’s bold name to open its editor.
  2. Scroll to KPIs and click Add KPI.
  3. Enter KPI name, Owner name, KPI owner email, Target, Unit, and Better when (Higher or Lower).
  4. In Map → Owner panel mode, enter Current too.
  5. Click Save KPI. Repeat for every KPI on that objective.

Example under “Expand community services”:

KPIOwnerCurrentTargetResult
People servedOwner A8001,00080%
Outreach sessionsOwner B305060%
Volunteer hoursOwner C9001,00090%

3. Choose where current values are entered

  1. Map → Owner panel: you or a map editor enter Current in the objective and click Save KPI; owners see it read-only.
  2. Owner panel → Map: owners enter their own Current values.
  3. To change it, click Switch direction beside the direction label and confirm. Existing values are preserved.

4. See every average — open Supervisors, Managers or Directors from the map toolbar; you see the whole Objective average.

5. Approve target proposals — you can approve or decline any owner’s proposal.

6. Handle staff changes — when someone leaves or changes position, tell the administrator, who transfers their KPIs and approvals to the new person.

Director

What a Director can do

  1. Sign in with the email your CEO assigned and open the company map.
  2. Click Directors in the map toolbar.
  3. Under KPI results and reporting averages, see every KPI in My team — the managers, supervisors and owners who report to you — with each owner’s current value, target and progress.
  4. See each manager’s average and your director average (the average of your managers’ averages).
  5. Approve or decline target proposals where you are named as the boss.
  6. If your CEO gave you Can edit, you can also add or change KPIs on the map.
Manager (boss)

What a Manager can do

  1. Sign in with your assigned email and open the company map.
  2. Click Managers in the map toolbar.
  3. See the KPIs of the supervisors and owners who report to you, with current value, target and progress.
  4. See each supervisor’s average and your manager average (the average of your supervisors’ averages).
  5. Approve or decline target proposals where you are named as the boss.
  6. If you were given Can edit, you can also add or change KPIs on the map.
Supervisor (boss)

What a Supervisor can do

  1. Sign in with your assigned email and open the company map.
  2. Click Supervisors in the map toolbar.
  3. See the KPIs of the owners who report to you, with current value, target and progress.
  4. See your supervisor average (the average of your owners’ results).
  5. Approve or decline target proposals where you are named as the boss.
  6. If you were given Can edit, you can also add or change KPIs on the map.
Owner

What an Owner can do

  1. Sign up with the Company sign-up link using the email your CEO assigned.
  2. Open the company map and click Owners.
  3. Find your KPIs under My KPI results.
  4. Owner panel → Map: enter Current and click Save current. It updates the map and your bosses’ averages right away, without approval.
  5. Map → Owner panel: your current values are entered on the map and appear here read-only.
  6. To change a target: New target proposal, fill in the details and your boss’s email, select Linked objective and Linked KPI, then Send for approval.
For everyone

How the averages work

Each person sees the results of the people who report to them, and every level shows the average of the levels below it, up to the objective. Groups can be any size, and the result is the same in both map directions.

One thing to know

Each person has one Reports to relationship for a company, so the same owner cannot currently report to two supervisors at once.
